A Sacred Connection with Mother Tara Through the Ancient Hymns of Bhutan
Who is PhubZam?
Meet PhubZam – The Voice of Bhutan’s Sacred Soul
PhubZam is a gifted vocalist from Bhutan whose musical journey began at just 13 years old, when she earned national recognition by winning 3rd place in the prestigious Druk Super Star singing competition in 2012. Since then, her mesmerizing voice has echoed across continents — from Himalayan monasteries to global music festivals — offering audiences a rare and heartfelt glimpse into Bhutan’s spiritual heritage.
Born Phurbu Zangmo, her name is steeped in spiritual significance: Phurbu refers to Vajrakilaya, the deity of transformation and protection, while Zangmo means “kind-hearted girl,” embodying the blessings and hopes of her family and community.
More than just a career, singing is PhubZam’s way of making offerings — to the deities, to her families, and to all sentient beings. Deeply rooted in the values of Buddhist tradition and shaped by the guidance of revered Lamas and spiritual communities, her voice is both a prayer and a call to presence. In a time when Himalayan youth face increasing pressure from fast fashion and modern consumer culture, PhubZam stands as a radiant example of devotion, cultural pride, and artistic integrity.
Through her music, she seeks not only to entertain, but to inspire inner peace, meditation, and a reconnection with timeless wisdom. Each song is an invitation to pause, breathe, and listen — not just with the ears, but with the heart.
If you feel moved by PhubZam’s voice and mission, you can support her work by contributing to her upcoming recording projects, helping her bring more ancient chants and sacred prayers to life.
Join PhubZam on her sacred journey — as she brings the healing spirit of Bhutan to the world, one song at a time.
